Foster For King Street Cats

Our fabulous foster parents are an essential part of the KSC family. They are quite literally life savers: we cannot rescue moms and kittens unless we have foster homes to keep them healthy and happy until they are ready for adoption. Others care for our senior cats or cats with special needs that need to be in a home environment.

We provide all necessary veterinary care and can provide food; you supply the spare room and TLC. We do ask that you are within easy reach of our vets at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital or Hayfield Animal Hospital. We have two main foster programs:
  • Short-term: A minimum one-month commitment usually housing moms and/or kittens until they are ready to be spayed/neutered and brought in for adoption. Please read our Kitten Foster FAQ
  • Long-term: No time limit. Usually senior cats or cats with special medical needs
If you have room in your heart and home for a foster cat or kittens, please complete the Foster Contract and email us at: foster@kingstreetcats.org.

*We do ask that prospective fosterers attend an orientation at our Dove Street facility. Please check our EVENTS page for details of the next orientation.

"Don't look down on us...playing with puppies and kittens. I want those who work in animal welfare to be looked up to as professional life savers."
