About Remy (FIV+ & Positively Adoptable - special boy!)

THIS LOVING BOY OFFERS AFFECTION AND LOVE IN EXCHANGE FOR A FOREVER HOME

Hello friends! My name is Remy. I'm a purrfect example of what makes King Street Cats such a special organization.

I found myself in a shelter facing a seemingly insurmountable series of challenges: my mouth was so sore - I needed a lot of dental work. My age - I'm 12 - more on this in just a second. I'm FIV+ - more on that in two seconds.

In so many cases, my life - which is all about loving my human and feline friends - could have ended right there.

Thanks to King Street Cats, it did not. In fact, I am here now at the beginning of what I think will be the best chapter in my life...

Let me dispel a myth about age, just in case that seems like a deal breaker to you. It's not! I am full of life and I am all about love. My new volunteer friends here at KSC have met thousands of cats - and yet I stand out in their minds as very special. That should tell you something about me. I hope to have years of enjoyment when I meet the special purrson (or people) who decides to open his or her heart and home to me.

Next, let me tell you about Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, or FIV.

Yes, I am FIV+, which means that I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. At some point I must have been received a *deep puncture* bite wound from another cat with FIV.

FIV is not the same as Feline AIDS. It is not the same as the human forms of HIV or AIDS. You cannot catch it, and my care requirements are no different from what any cat lover does for his or her cat companions. An FIV+ cat does not necessarily develop Feline AIDS. FIV can only be spread from one cat to another cat through deep-puncture bite wounds.

Here's what I'll need in terms of care:

  • I'll need you to feed me a high quality diet (preferably a grain-free, high-protein canned/wet food);
  • I'll need you to come to know my behaviors so that you can notice changes that may be health-related;
  • I'll need you to develop a good working relationship with a veterinarian who is current on FIV issues, and seek that veterinarian's assistance if you notice any changes in my behavior;
  • I'll need you to provide me with regular veterinary care;
  • I'll need you to keep me indoors so that I am not exposed to feral cats or wild animals.

That's all. Wouldn't you do that for any kitty? I thought so!

Now let's get to best part: the wonderful characteristics that make me who I am!

Very simply put: I am a people lover. I was born with an affinity for the company of my human friends and despite the many changes and challenging circumstances that I've faced, I remain a loving, affectionate boy who will seek out your company and purrrr happily when we are together.

I am remarkably adorable in person. I have short, plush and silky fur in snowy white with a little honey-colored cap on my head and matching drops of honey elsewhere.

I've had all of my dental issues resolved here at KSC, and now I only need to take a small dose of medication twice a day - and I take it like a champion! There's no need to stress out because I'll make everything easy for you! I don't need a special diet, and I looove to eat! I would ask that you feed me a high quality grain-free canned food though - these are readily available commercially and are so much better for my overall health.

I know it's a lot to ask: I'm older, I am FIV+ ... but my shelter friends saw something very special in me. This is why they called King Street Cats to take me from the shelter and bring me into the KSC family where I have an excellent chance of finding the forever home I deserve.

My KSC friends will assure you that I am most deserving: I'm loving, affectionate, gentle, accommodating, easy-going, loyal, adorable, and wonderful. My little mousy friend in the photo is a great guy, too! {{ kitty giggle }}

Please consider how much love I have to give, what a good boy I am, and how many memories we can share together. I would love nothing more than to know that I am cherished and loved in a home of my own.

It's easy to find out more: please send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org and ask for me, Remy.

I am already very grateful to you. If you'd share my story to help me find a home, my mousy and I would be over the moon.

Lovingly yours,
Remy
