CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME
Hi there! My name is Samba, I am the smallest of the Dance Kittens.
We had a pretty rough start in life. It was summer and hot when we were found on our own behind a store. We weren’t quite three weeks old and were trying to get around and find our mom. It wasn’t going so well but a nice person gathered us up. She tried and tried to find mom but didn’t have any luck. She knew we needed lots of help so took us to a shelter. There were seven us and the shelter knew we needed extra-special care and called King Street Cats.
We were all very dirty and pretty badly infected with ringworm but that wasn’t the worst of it, we also had panleukopenia (feline distemper). There isn’t any treatment for this horrible virus, the best that can be done is providing supportive therapies to boost the immune system, good food, warm clean beds, and lots of love. We were too young to eat enough on our own and very sick so there were were rounds of bottle feeding, medicines, baths to treat the ringworm, and litter box cleaning…lots and lots of litter box cleaning. But finally most of us started getting better, unfortunately two of our sisters lost their fight. Then just when things were looking up, as often happens with kittens, we all got kitty colds! Those colds were annoying but we beat them too!
The really exciting news is I found my playmate, wrestling partner and best friend Squeaky here at our foster home. Squeaky has quite a story to tell, you can read about him on his very own page. Together we are ready to start our search for our forever family!
Our foster says we are the sweetest, softest, snuggliest kittens ever…and who are we to disagree. We love to play chase, tumble around, capture toys, and curl up in the sun. The softer and fluffier the bed the happier we are. We think laps, pets, and kisses are just the best. I like to purr and rub faces, Squeaky loves to give hugs.
We love people and think we would like to have kids to play with. We haven’t met any of these dogs folks talk about so we can’t say how we would do living with one.
