HANDSOME, PLUSH YPUNG BOY IS A SMOOCHIE LOVE BUG

I am FIV+ and I will discuss this near the end of my biography so that you understand how "Positively Adoptable" I am.

Hello friends! My name is Simba. I was found outdoors as a lonely stray with bite wounds on my leg. I was brought to a wonderful shelter in Baltimore where I was given the veterinary care I needed and my leg is healed! The staff discovered something surprising about me: I'm a complete LOVE BUG! That's right: I ADORE my humans! I cuddle, snuggle, nuzzle and lean in for all the kisses I can get. That's my nature!

My shelter friends KNEW I deserved a forever home where I can be a cherished family member so they put out the call to King Street Cats. JSC responded and welcomed me into the KSC family. This is where I'm going to meet the lucky purrson or people who take me home forever and I can't wait.

I immediately set about winning over my volunteer friends here at KSC. It was easy! What's not to love about a young, handsome green-eyed boy with a short, plush mocha tabby coat full of stripes and swirls? I'm two (2) years - this is a delightful adoption age. I'm a huggable teddy bear at about 13 pounds. I have a top-notch purr engine that fires up every time a friend comes over. I was made for purring with my people!

I am friendly, alert, laid back, easy going, curious, gentle, loyal, grateful and very affectionate! You'll love having me around. I come in peace where all creatures are concerned and get along well with my four legged friends here.

Yes, I am FIV+, which means that I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. At some point I must have been received a *deep puncture* bite wound from another cat with FIV.

FIV is not the same as Feline AIDS. It is not the same as the human forms of HIV or AIDS. You cannot catch it, and my care requirements are no different from what any cat lover does for his or her cat companions. An FIV+ cat does not necessarily develop Feline AIDS. FIV can only be spread from one cat to another cat through deep-puncture bite wounds.

Here's what I'll need in terms of care:

  • I'll need you to feed me a high quality diet (preferably a grain-free, high-protein canned/wet food);
  • I'll need you to come to know my behaviors so that you can notice changes that may be health-related;
  • I'll need you to develop a good working relationship with a veterinarian who is current on FIV issues, and seek that veterinarian's assistance if you notice any changes in my behavior;
  • I'll need you to provide me with regular veterinary care;
  • I'll need you to keep me indoors so that I am not exposed to feral cats or wild animals.

That's all. Wouldn't you do that for any kitty? I thought so!

Please come to meet me! It's easy to get started: send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org and ask for me, Simba. I can't bwsit until.we can snuggle and purr happily together.

Very affectionately yours,
Simba
