CURRENTLY IN FOSTER
If you are looking for a new best friend, Latte is your boy!
While he does enjoy playing with his feline friends, Latte loves nothing more than to have a great big cuddle with his human companions.
A chatty boy, he will talk to you and let you know that you just aren’t petting him enough! Latte loves to curl up on your lap, and really enjoys reaching up to give face bumps and kisses too.
Latte’s favourite toys are his collection of springs, and he will always be sure to include you in his games. As a cat who plays fetch, he will bring his spring right up to your hand and wait patiently for you to throw it for him..and then he’ll be back again for more! (See video.)
Latte has a gentle, loving soul, and he gets on well with every single cat and human that he meets, making him the perfect kitty for any situation - whether you adopt him with a friend, or pair him with a cat you have at home.
His thick, soft, silky grey fur will make you love cuddle time just as much as he does!
Yes, I am FIV+, which means that I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. At some point I must have been received a *deep puncture* bite wound from another cat with FIV.
FIV is not the same as Feline AIDS. It is not the same as the human forms of HIV or AIDS. You cannot catch it, and my care requirements are no different from what any cat lover does for his or her cat companions. An FIV+ cat does not necessarily develop Feline AIDS. FIV can only be spread from one cat to another cat through deep-puncture bite wounds.
Here's what I'll need in terms of care:
-
I'll need you to feed me a high quality diet (preferably a grain-free, high-protein canned/wet food);
-
I'll need you to come to know my behaviors so that you can notice changes that may be health-related;
-
I'll need you to develop a good working relationship with a veterinarian who is current on FIV issues, and seek that veterinarian's assistance if you notice any changes in my behavior;
-
I'll need you to provide me with regular veterinary care;
-
I'll need you to keep me indoors so that I am not exposed to feral cats or wild animals.
That's all. Wouldn't you do that for any kitty? I thought so!
