SWEET FACED, FRIENDLY SHELBY WILL FOLLOW YOU EVERYWHERE. Hello friends! My name is Shelby. My first memories are of a rather tough and uncertain life on the streets of Washington, D.C. I had to be on guard and ever alert for threats - who could tell what direction they might be coming from? Unfortunately, I trusted someone and they hurt me so badly I had to have parts of both ears amputated. Since I have been through so much I really just need a quiet, calm home where I can learn to completely trust my special person. My KSC friends know that in a quiet, secure home I will blossom and thrive. I need a sage, observant and agile human who will watch my body language and understand when I don’t feel safe - even though you may not immediately see the cause. In return for these considerations, I will bring you companionship of the most loyal kind. I love my volunteer friends at King Street Cats and I can't soak up enough affection from them. I follow them puppy-like around the KSC facility, nudging them and waiting eagerly for a head rub, chin scratch, and a kind word softly spoken. Nothing makes me happier. I can't get enough, which is why I tag along wherever my human friends go. I'm interested in what they're doing, seeing, smelling and "playing" with.
I made a best friend here at KSC. His name is Windows. Our KSC friends refer to him as our "teddy bear." He's a solid silvery black kitten with stunning medium length fur. I am a softy where Windows is concerned and I will concede that he is incredibly adorable. Windows has been through a lot in his short life and come out a champion love-bug. He is teaching me how to open up and how to enjoy life and four-footed companionship. And, oh my goodness, do we LOVE to play together. Between Windows and my new human friends, my whole outlook on life has changed dramatically! I am only two and my BFF Windows is not even one yet so I will look out for him but the best part is he looks out for me too! We would like to be adopted together. This is not twice as much work for you (ask a cat lover who has two cats) but it IS twice the love and reward. We will all benefit from what we can give each other: you, Windows and me.
